Color Abounds at the NEWPORT FLOWER SHOW

Every summer, Newport flower enthusiasts and nature lovers eagerly anticipate the arrival of an event that epitomizes elegance and horticultural splendor. The Newport Flower Show beckons visitors from near and far to immerse themselves in a captivating world of floral artistry and botanical wonders.

Set in the historic Rosecliff mansion, this year’s show, scheduled from June 21st to 23rd, promises a delightful experience themed “At Home.” It’s a celebration of the intimate connection between blooms and the spaces they adorn, inviting attendees to explore the diverse palette of florals and greenery that grace our homes.

What sets the Newport Flower Show apart is not just its stunning displays but also its commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The sprawling back lawn of Rockliff transforms into a vibrant marketplace, offering an array of floral delights, home decor, and fashionable finds.

Visitors can stroll through garden displays meticulously crafted by landscape professionals, including a breathtaking wildflower orchard and sustainable landscape installations. Free daily lectures by renowned landscape designer Lucy Hunter provide insights into the art of floral arrangement, complemented by a unique opportunity to acquire her book, “The Flower Hunter,” and have it signed by the author.

One of the highlights of the show is the Botanical Arts division, where artists showcase their interpretations of everyday items found in homes, from dolls to picture frames, infusing them with floral motifs. The Horticulture Division presents a stunning array of floral designs and horticultural specimens, each vying for recognition from the discerning judges of the Newport Flower Show Committee.

Attendees can also marvel at special installations, including an upscale chicken coop with a green roof and live exotic chickens, a vibrant floral vignette created by students, and a display of “My Favorite Plants” curated by Newport’s professional estate gardeners.

Beyond the visual spectacle, the Newport Flower Show holds a deeper significance. Proceeds from the event contribute to the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Preservation Society’s 88 acres of gardens and landscapes, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the timeless beauty of Newport’s historic architecture and natural surroundings.

For flower enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone who appreciates the artistry of botanicals, the Newport Flower Show is an unmissable experience, offering a glimpse into a world where beauty blooms in abundance, and every petal tells a story.
